Surgery often involves the repair of damage to the foot hand or ankle which which may have occurred to bone, muscle, tendon, nerve, other soft tissue (such as ligaments), skin and nails. Common operations include surgery for complex foot reconstruction, forefoot reconstruction to correct bunions, hallux valgus, hallux rigidus (stiff big toe), lesser toe deformities and metatarsalgia (forefoot pain), total ankle replacement, achilles tendon repair and reconstruction and arthroscopic arthrodesis or fusion surgery to combat symptoms of arthritis.
