Independent Histopathology Services (IHS), a leading provider of diagnostic services serving the private sector and the NHS, was founded and is led by an experienced group of cellular pathologists.
Histopathology services in London delivered to CPA standards
Histopathology services are delivered along subspecialty lines, and their core team of pathologists is supplemented and supported by a broad network of associated specialists. The consultant team is supported by highly motivated biomedical scientists and staff, all working to the latest CPA standards and using the most up-to-date practices. IHS enjoys close links with several London teaching hospitals, enabling them to provide a full range of molecular and genetic investigations.
Digital online pathology service
IHS has successfully introduced a digital, online pathology service through which consultant colleagues and management within healthcare providers may access results at any time via a secure link to the IHS website. Digital images, both microscopic and macroscopic may be added to complement the written pathology report. An enhanced service, which will send an alert to consultants’ mobile devices to confirm availability of results is in development.
Expert reporting across a range of subspecialties
IHS is in the process of expanding its range of sessional pathologists in order to strengthen expert reporting capability across the subspecialties. All major fields are covered including urology, dermatology, gastro-intestinal, breast pathology and gynaecology. IHS also has strong relations with experts in neuropathology and bone marrow.
Liquid-based cytology
IHS provides a total solution for cytology support using liquid-based cytology. ThinPrep processing and reporting is carried out, along with the SurePath method of reporting. High and low risk HPV testing is carried out along with a full non-gynaecological cytology service including immunocytochemistry, flow cytometry and PCA3.
Special cytology services
Also available from IHS are services that include an out of hours on-site frozen section service in instances where the full case referral is sent. Also, IHS’ cytology team provides a rapid FNA service in which results would be typically available to the consultant within three hours, and most recently an on site “Hot” FNA service has been developed in which the Consultant Cytopathologist and lab technician attend to the patient directly and results are immediately provided.
IHS enjoys a fast-growing client base from both the private and public sectors, with more consultants across all fields of expertise choosing to use IHS every week.
